Advances in Optics for Biotechnology, Medicine and Surgery XII

December 9th, 2010

This conference will focus on both recent technological advances, as well as novel and established applications of optics in medicine and research. The primary goal of this conference is to bring together scientists, engineers and clinicians from academia and industry who are interested in the application of optics to biotechnology, medicine, and surgery. The meeting will provide a forum for formal and informal discussion, and promote positive interactions between students and established experts in the field. Ample time for networking is built in as an integral component of the meeting.

Each session will include esteemed invited speakers, with ample time for discussion. All attendees and students are invited to present posters, some of which will be selected for a special hot-topics oral session as well as student prizes. Planned oral sessions include:

  • Optical imaging in biology and research
  • Optical therapeutics
  • Neuroimaging and neuromodulation
  • Low-cost optical technologies for wider markets and the developing world
  • Hybrid optical / acoustic imaging
  • Clinical optical imaging and spectroscopy 1: In the clinic
  • Clinical optical imaging and spectroscopy 2: Approaching the clinic
  • Image-guided intervention & real-time imaging.
  • Novel microscopy
  • Commercialization of bio-optics
  • Hot-topics short talks selected from poster abstracts.
